Donostia / San Sebastian hosts the annual Opinionated about Dining gala dinner

The Opinionated about Dining (OAD) 2019 award ceremony was held in Donostia / San Sebastian on the 19th and 20th of May. At this large gala dinner, during which the María Cristina Hotel was turned into a huge grill house, awards were presented to the Top 100 restaurants in Europe. The winner was the restaurant Schloss Schauenstein (Switzerland) and Arguinzoniz’s Etxebarri (Vizcaya) was third on the list, which also included Azurmendi (#17), Martín Berasategui (#41), Arzak (#45) and Mugaritz (#56).

On the OAD’s “European Heritage Top100+ 2019” list, the restaurant Ibai in San Sebastian came top, with Elkano in Getaria coming second. 11 of these top-ranked restaurants are in Gipuzkoa, 6 in San Sebastian – Ibai (#1), Rekondo (#98), Casa Urola (#133) , Mirador de Ulía (#140), Txuleta (#171), Portuetxe (#199)- and 5 in the rest of Gipuzkoa – Elkano (#2), Casa Julián (#5), Kaia Kaipe (#9), Patxiku-Enea (#68) and Casa Nicolás (#137).
