San Sebastián Gastronomika commemorates the 500th anniversary of Elcano’s expedition

San Sebastián Gastronomika - Euskadi Basque Country, a congress attracting the gastronomic elite from Spain and abroad and commemorating this year’s 500th anniversary of the first global circumnavigation, is set to take place from October 6 - 9.
170 companies will showcase the sector’s latest trends in 5000 sqm of exhibition space.
The San Sebastián Gastronomika congress returns to the city with a host of unique cuisine-related activities at the Kursaal Congress Centre and other side venues. This year, up to eight three Michelin star chefs will pay a tribute to Carme Ruscalleda at one of the event’s key dinners.
A variety of chefs from countries on the route of Basque navigator Juan Sebastián Elcano will come to Donostia / San Sebastián to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the first round-the-world voyage. Haute cuisine will feature in both show cooking sessions and side activities, over four full days of events.
There will also be a “Market” area, ideal for networking, with top products from Spain and abroad and exhibitors from all over the world showcasing the sector’s latest trends. This year, the 5,000 sqm of exhibition space will be filled by around 170 companies to showcase products and exchange ideas and it will be open all day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (7 p.m. on the last day).
